The Roman Thermal Spas of Europe
EuropeSpa operates the administrative office of the “The Roman Thermal Spas of Europe”.
It is an initiative uniting thermal spas and health resorts of Roman origin from all over Europe. Located at the intersection of health and culture tourism participating destinations offer a unique and innovative combination of medical spa and wellness, history, culture and gastronomy. Currently, eight thermal spas from across Europe participate in the project: Aidipsos (Greece), Badenweiler (Germany), Budapest (Hungary), Chaves (Portugal), Dax (France), Hisarya (Bulgaria), Kyustendil (Bulgaria) and São Pedro do Sul (Portugal). Each one of these destinations is unique. What they have in common, however, is their Roman origin. They were founded about 2,000 years ago and have maintained their Roman hertigage up until today. Together they constitute a varied mosaic of European culture and thermal spa tradition.
EuropeSpa was responsible for the development of the criteria for the participating health resorts and for the provision of the quality labels for the thermal baths with Roman origins. Initially co-funded by the EU, the project transferred into an independent marketing organisation in February 2016, headquarterd at EuropeSpa.
