EuropeSpa med is the seal of quality for health resort hotels and clinics as well as medical wellness centres. To be awarded the EuropeSpa med certificate, health resorts and clinics have to undergo an on-site inspection lasting two or three days. Based on 1,000 criteria aspects like infrastructure, security, treatments, remedies, kitchen and service are assessed. These criteria have been developed developed in conjunction with a Committee of Experts and with the support of health insurance companies. Providers only pass the audit if they meet at least 80% of all the criteria as well as certain basic requirements.
Added to the EuropeSpa med certificate there is an extension for mother-and-child-cures.
A thorough audit based on the EuropeSpa criteria gives more certainty that a stay in a medical spa or health resort will enhance the guest’s health. Especially after the commencement of the EU Patient Directive the certificate facilitates the choice of an appropriate medical spa provider in Europe.
The entire EuropeSpa med catalogue of criteria have been published as a book in „Schweizerbart Verlag“, a German science publisher (Quality Standard for Medical Spas and Medical Wellness Providers in Europe (ISBN 978-3-510-65273-0, 181 pages, 25 x 17 cm, printed in two colours, German/English, hardback, €79.90).
