Outstanding! Slovakian Health Resort Trenčianske Teplice awarded with EuropeSpa med Seal

EuropeSpa certifies Slovakian health resort outstanding quality and safety

Bratislava/Wiesbaden, April 17th 2012 | The Slovakian health resort Trenčianske Teplice now acquired the EuropeSpa med seal issued by the European Spas Association (ESPA). The international seal is awarded to healthcare providers in Europe, which prove highest standards of quality and safety within an audit of several days' duration. During the audit, EuropeSpa experts scrutinised the treatment centres from all angles – from the planning and execution of treatment to the medical personnel’s training and expertise. Today`s official handover of the certificate was attended by Dr. Janka Zálešáková, president of the Slovakian Spas Association.

Unique Thermal Water and an Architectural Treasure
Kúpele Trenčianske Teplice is one of the oldest and most visited spas in Slovakia. This is mainly thanks to the excellent natural sulfurous thermal water and its romantic location. Medical care in the Trenčianske Teplice a.s. has a long tradition (the first written reference of the spa is from 1247) and it is based primarily on the use of natural sulfurous thermal water. Currently, in addition to thermal water, a wide range of medical methods in the field of curative rehabilitation and physiotherapy is used.

The spa is specialized in the treatment and prevention of musculoskeletal diseases, conditions after operations and injuries, chronic rheumatic diseases in some lifestyle diseases, occupational diseases and psoriasis.

Architectural highlight
The Hammam Turkish spa is an outstanding architectonic treasure of the spa town. It was built in the 19th century by the then court architect of the Turkish Sultan and was a All-European attraction and the most expensive spa at that time. Today, the Hammam is a resting place for spa guests after having taken a bath. It is open to everyone - as a place for spa procedures, as well as an interesting historical monument.

Romantic Nature around Teplice
The town of Teplice is located in a valley in western Slovakia. Surrounded by forests and protected from urban areas, it has all premises for a relaxing stay. A beautiful spa park with rare trees and a swan lake and the adjoining forest park with a nature education path, invite for relaxing walks after spa treatments.

EuropeSpa: the international integrated seal of quality
EuropeSpa is the international quality certificate of the European Spas Association. It formulates universal standards and enables health resorts and spas in different countries all over Europe to be compared. Moreover, it is also the strictest seal of quality throughout the continent. The EuropeSpa med seal is used to rate health resorts, clinics and medical spas, while EuropeSpa wellness applies to spa hotels. Both seals are based on the principle of integrated assessment. In addition to the standard of medical treatment offered, audits also address the technical facilities, environmental protection, accommodation, and cuisine and food safety. The audit involves over 400 questions. EuropeSpa certification has so far been awarded to about 60 health resorts, clinics and spa hotels in 12 countries.
